Description
We are having some arrivals from the Arctic Tundra and i am here to greet them. I love watching and photographing these huge birds that seem to have so much character.
This one has half the eyelid closed and it appears to be winking at the viewer, i happen to think it is.
Here is a fun fact about there eye lids. Snowy owls not only have upper and lower eyelids, but they also have a transparent eyelid called a nictitating membrane which protects their eyes even more. The membrane also keeps the eyes moist.
